Dr. Varamesh has co-founded NovaCarbon Technologies Inc. Congrats!

We are proud to announce that Dr. Amir Varamesh, a PhD graduate from Dr. Jinguang Hu’s research group, has secured the Innovation Catalyst Grant (ICG) to support the commercialization of advanced carbon materials for energy storage applications.

Dr. Varamesh has co-founded NovaCarbon Technologies Inc. (Novacarbon.ca), a University of Calgary spin-off company established in collaboration with Dr. Hu’s team. The company aims to commercialize patented technologies developed in the lab for producing high-performance activated carbon materials from bitumen, biomass, and plastic waste.

This milestone reflects the translational impact of our group’s research in advanced materials and clean energy storage applications.
